Enjoy the View at Khao Yai Thiang, See the Wind Turbine Fields, and E-To Mountain

Khao Yai Thiang is located in Khlong Phai Subdistrict, Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. It offers beautiful viewpoints at the summit, not far from Bangkok, with a cycling path for enjoying the breeze and scenery. Experience the morning and evening mist with soft sunlight. From the summit, you can see views of Lam Takhong Dam, wind turbine fields, and E-To Mountain.
E-To Mountain gets its name from its "e-to knife" (machete) shape, with a steep front and a sloping back following the rock layers. Locals call it "Khao E-To." Khao Yai Thiang is one of the 20 E-To mountains stretching across Sikhio and Sung Noen districts, ranging in height from about 400-800 meters above mean sea level.
These uniquely shaped mountains are a significant geological treasure of Thailand and are recognized as a global geopark. The international term for this type of mountain is "cuesta," derived from Spanish.
These "cuesta" mountains were formed by the Lam Takhong River depositing sediment of gravel, sand, silt, and clay in plains or lowlands up to Chaloem Phra Kiat District, creating a landscape of alternating mountains and valleys in a northwest-southeast direction.
The Korat cuesta mountain range is also more prominent than others worldwide because it is formed from the Phu Phan and Phra Wihan Formation sandstones, which are more resistant to erosion than other rock formations.
Therefore, cycling on Khao Yai Thiang is quite safe, just avoid falling off the E-To ridge, which is a cliff (laughs).
Khao Yai Thiang is part of the Korat World Heritage Site and is not far from Bangkok, making it an unseen gem that everyone should check out.
