Food & Wine Festival Celebrating Korat GI

At 4:00 PM on February 15th, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, in collaboration with the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Commerce Office, the Provincial Cultural Office, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Nakhon Ratchasima Office, the Khao Yai Tourism Association, and the Nakhon Ratchasima Tourism and Service Association, along with network partners, launched the "Food & Wine Festival Celebrating Korat GI" at Ile café & camping Khaoyai, Mu Si Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
The "Food & Wine Festival Celebrating Korat GI" is organized to continue Nakhon Ratchasima Province's soft power policy, driving 11 soft power industries: food, sports, music, film and series, tourism, books, art, design, fashion, festivals, and games. Nakhon Ratchasima Province currently has 11 GI-registered products: Khao Yai Wine, Isan Native Thai Silk, Dong Mafai Coffee, Wang Nam Khiao Coffee, Thung Samrit Jasmine Rice, Dan Kwian Pottery, Phet Non Thai Tamarind, Pak Chong Khao Yai Durian, Khum Ma U Bua Lai Silk, Pak Thong Chai Silk, and Phet Pak Chong Custard Apple. This event brings together all GI products to elevate product standards and stimulate tourism in line with the province's policies.
Event highlights include wine tasting from all wineries in Khao Yai: GranMonte Vineyard and Winery, PB Valley Khao Yai Winery, Alcidini Winery, and Village Farm Winery, offering tastings of their premium wines.
Additionally, there are creative activities such as creating Korat GI food menus with "The Lost Flavors" by Chef James-Phatsakrit Thana-anyamani, Chef Consultant World Reward Solutions (Khao Yai Tourism Association); a lecture on "The Charm of Khao Yai Wine to World-Class GI Wine" by Mr. Suwisut Lohitnavee, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, GranMonte Vineyard and Winery; and a lecture on "Appreciate Thai Local Alcoholic Beverages from Fruits and Rice" by Assistant Professor Dr. Charoen Charoenchai, an expert in alcoholic beverage production, administrator of the Thai Liquor page, and a member of the Extraordinary Committee considering the Excise Tax Bill and the Alcoholic Beverage Control Bill. Mr. Vichit Kitwirat, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima Province, stated that on behalf of the "Food & Wine Festival Celebrating Korat GI" organizing committee, he thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for presiding over the opening ceremony. The Chairman of the National Soft Power Development Committee has appointed the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Soft Power Subcommittee to drive 11 soft power industries: food, sports, music, film and series, tourism, books, art, design, fashion, festivals, and games. Food and wine are soft power and GI-registered products from the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Commerce. Nakhon Ratchasima Province has 11 GI products: Isan Native Thai Silk, Dong Mafai Coffee, Khao Yai Wine, Wang Nam Khiao Coffee, Thung Samrit Jasmine Rice, Dan Kwian Pottery, Phet Non Thai Tamarind, Pak Chong Khao Yai Durian, Khum Ma U Bua Lai Silk, Pak Thong Chai Silk, and Phet Pak Chong Custard Apple. Nakhon Ratchasima Province prioritizes soft power and GI products to promote and generate income for entrepreneurs and communities, approving the provincial budget allocated by the government for the 2025 fiscal year to organize this event.
The "Food & Wine Festival Celebrating Korat GI," an experience of mountain flavors, is held from February 14th to 16th, 2025, at Ile café & camping Khaoyai, Mu Si Subdistrict, Pak Chong District. Activities include GI food creations, wine art, music performances, art workshops, and tasting and shopping for famous Khao Yai food and wine. Fifty GI product entrepreneurs, community product vendors, and local wine producers and distributors are invited to participate in sales and demonstrations. This event will generate income for entrepreneurs and communities in line with the national soft power policy, promote GI products, increase awareness of provincial products, stimulate tourism, and generate revenue for Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
