The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) has granted Thailand the right to host the International Horticultural Expo, or "Korat Expo 2029."

This prestigious global event will elevate Nakhon Ratchasima Province as a hub for innovation and sustainability in the horticultural industry, under the theme "Nature & Greenery: Envisioning the Green Future."

"Korat Expo 2029," or the Nakhon Ratchasima World Horticultural Expo 2029, is scheduled to take place from November 10, 2029, to February 28, 2030. It is classified as an A1-level world expo, expecting 2.6 to 4 million attendees and stimulating the economy in line with the "Korat First" policy.

The announcement of Nakhon Ratchasima's successful bid to host the Nakhon Ratchasima World Horticultural Expo 2029 was made during the 2024 Annual Meeting of the AIPH in Doha, Qatar, on March 6, 2024.

The Thai delegation presenting the country's readiness in the final round included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).  Thailand will now proceed to submit its proposal to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) for official recognition as a world expo.

Korat Expo 2029 will be a global horticultural event with participation from numerous countries, showcasing plants, innovations, and cultures, and attracting a large number of visitors. It will provide opportunities for access to financial resources, technology investment, educational and research development, and transportation advancements.

Furthermore, it will enhance the knowledge base of local personnel in the northeastern region, offering opportunities for experience exchange with experts from various fields. It will also elevate agricultural technology by introducing new innovations and technologies to increase agricultural productivity and efficiency.

This event is a golden opportunity for tourism, attracting tourists from various countries, thus generating increased tourism revenue and fostering intellectual and cultural exchange. Overall, Nakhon Ratchasima Province will greatly benefit in terms of economic development and agricultural advancement, along with long-term capacity building for its workforce.

Initially, a significant amount of money is expected to circulate during the event period, with the Thai government alone investing 4.8 billion baht, excluding investments from other countries and the influx of tourists.
